Something I am doing right now is a commissioned work for a customer in the USA.
The groundwork has been finished already and it is waiting for the miniature, the 75 mm Roman Tribune of Pegaso Models, which is also in its closing stages.
The whole of the groundwork is scratchbuild with Magic Sculpt. The pillar is a piece of wooden dowel of the right diameter. To get rid of the wood grain, the dowel was covered with several layers of ready to use plaster filler, each layer being sanded in between. The circular base of the pillar was made of plasticard.
The division on the pillar to simulate the different stone segments is painted in 'trompe l'oeil' and not engraved.
