WIP - Roman standard bearer of the 1st Century AD (part 2)


A shot of the face taken after the first painting session during which the basic areas of shade and light were sketched. 

Colours used were Naples yellow, light oxide red and caput mortuum violet for the base colour. Shading was done by adding a bit more light oxide red and caput mortuum violet. For the first highlights I mixed more Naples yellow and a tiny bit of titanium white to the base colour.

All these oil colours are from the fantastic Rembrandt oil paint range produced by the Dutch company Royal Talens, except for the Naples yellow which comes from Winsor & Newton.


The next stages will be executed with glazes.
