PARTS

MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS

After obtaining the 75 mm Blackbeard, this was my second figure bought from the Spanish manufacturer Alexandros Models. I liked Carles Vaquero's sculpting of this Spartan so much, that I did not hesitate long before adding this miniature to my grey army.

The kit consists of 20 parts, 21 with the base included. This is rather much for a sigle foot figure but the complete shield consist already of 7 parts, with the tassels and the 'porpax' - the central bronze armband - and the carrying belt, all cast as seperate pieces.

I have to admit that the parts of the Spartan will need a bit more attention than the average Pegaso Models kit during the cleaning up phase. Test fitting showed that the joining of the arms with the cloak and its overhanging parts will have to be carried out with the utmost care. After gluing these joints will have to be filled with some rebuilding of the folding and creases of the cloak. Probably the inside of the bulk part of the cloak will have to be painted prior to gluing too. I also recommend to add little pins to strenghten these bonds. The construction and painting of the cloak will be rather a complex task and definitely not meant for a newby in the hobby.

Alexandros Models has a lot of original and beautiful figures in its catalogue definitely worth to be explored. I myself am still tempted by their 75 mm gladiator too...
